Posted by Andrew Musto on 7/25/18 5:36 PM

This week on CEO-Ready, we're in Marietta, GA with The Surface Masters President Justin Meier. Justin talks about how there are two aspects to being CEO-Ready: a mental piece and a physical piece. Mentally you have to know your stuff so you are ready at any time to be “peppered with questions” and physically you need to look the part, both to represent your expertise and professionalism.

CEO-Ready: Hire for Attitude

Posted by Andrew Musto on 7/5/18 8:31 AM

This time on CEO-Ready, we're with PaveCo Founder/CEO Darin Whelan. Darin talks about the importance of hiring for attitude (be happy!) first and for skill second. He also talks about the creative ways he is instilling a close-knit culture, which is leading to major growth and success of the entire team and company.  PaveCo is even adopting the CEO-Ready concept into their every day job performance (which was a big hit with yours truly)!

Darin lives out the CEO-Ready culture personally by trying to transform the lives of the people in his company.  His "job as a leader" is to elevate his team, individually and collectively, however he can.

Side note: that's a 1-ton Bomag roller in the background ... Can't miss out on a sunny day in New England!

CEO-Ready: Leading with Inspiration

Posted by Andrew Musto on 7/1/18 5:10 PM

This week on CEO-Ready, we're at New Balance world headquarters at Boston Landing to meet with Kassia Davis, Director of Global Merchandising. Kassia discusses the importance of leading by example and with inspiration. The key for Kassia is surrounding herself with talent and ensuring each team member feels empowered to execute on her vision.

When the team is built around New Balance core values, truly believes in actively listening, and feels the confidence of their leader behind them every step of the way, great things are possible.  The creativity and mobilized approach to both design and inevitable problem-solving results from a balance of big-picture visioning and detailed, execution-driven mindsets.  A truly balanced team!

Posted by Andrew Musto on 4/27/18 4:53 PM

This week on CEO-Ready, we're visiting with U.S. Pavement's Crew #2 Foreman, Kynan Mello.  Kynan talks about grinding with "his guys" and what it does to morale, camaraderie, and overall team performance to work side-by-side every day.  "K" as he is known, talks about how the CEO-Ready culture is all about being mentally and physically prepared for the work every day.

Having been with the company for 7 years, both in our Concrete division and, more recently, in our Paving division, K knows the trajectory possible with one takes pride in their work and strives ("that hunger") to align their own ambitions with the company's.

This is our seventh installment in the CEO-Ready video series - Check it out!  Join us again next week as we continue the exploration of this topic.

CEO-Ready: Building the Family

Posted by Andrew Musto on 4/12/18 10:04 AM

This time on CEO-Ready, we're visiting with U.S. Pavement's Superintendent of Asphalt Maintenance, Chris Snyder.  Chris brings a perspective of knowing the work, having led crews and teams in multiple divisions over the years.  He talks with us about how the CEO-Ready culture plays out in the field and the types of individuals he's looking to bring into "the family": Hungry people looking to learn, listen, and eventually lead.

Chris has led our Asphalt Maintenance and Infrared Repair divisions, learning along the way what it takes to be recognized as a leader: The experienced person with all the answers.  It doesn't happen overnight, but it can come to fruition with the right mix of trust, experience, and everyone driving for one goal.

Check this installment out - the sixth in our CEO-Ready video series!  Join us again next week as we continue the exploration of this topic.
